Lombardy is a region in Northern Italy. Milan is the capital, it is a global hub of fashion and finance, with many high-end shops and restaurants. It is located in the north-western part of the country and is one of the largest cultural centers in Italy. It is one of the 20 regions of Italy and is divided into 12 provinces: Bergamo, Brescia, Como, Cremona, Lecco, Lodi, Mantua, Milan (regional capital), Monza and Brianza, Pavia, Sondrio and Varese.

This region includes the valleys of the Alps up to the plains, with cities of art and history, ancient landscapes and traditions, yet also with modern features. The territory is not in contact with the sea and the coast closest to Milan is that of the Ligurian coast but in its center some of the most famous lakes extend: Maggiore, Como, Iseo and Garda.

In this splendid region, biodiversity and sustainability are great added values of this dynamic region, where industrial and agricultural production reigns but also the beauty and diversity of the splendid parks and natural landscapes, starting with the pristine lakes, one of the most popular is the Lake Como immersed in a splendid mountain environment makes it a point of reference for tourists and the charm of the villages attracts visitors and has been considered a fascinating place for centuries by visitors from all countries, which makes it perfect for nature lovers or for those who want to practice physical activity such as windsurfing, kitesurfing, wakeboarding, sailing and kayaking.

Furthermore, for the many mountain lovers, there is no shortage of one-day or multi-day hiking trails among the splendid peaks and lush woods of Valcamonica and Valtellina. Four important orographic massifs stand out in the area: the Badile-Disgrazia, the Bernina, the Ortles-Cevedale and the Adamello where uncontaminated nature reigns.

And here are some of my backpacking adventures that I want to introduce you to along old paths of military mule track origins and others on various other paths and terrains that lead to refuges and bivouacs or to majestic peaks such as Monte Legnone is the highest peak in the immediate Lake Como area. The diversity of wildlife species reigns in this area and bears are present in Alta Valtellina in the province of Sondrio.
