Monte Legnoncino Hiking In Lecco, Lombardy Italy Added (03/2022)

Monte Legnoncino is located in Valvarrone, at the western end of the Orobie Alps with its 1,714 m above sea level is considered the small peak of the Legnone group and is the twin of the second nearby peak of Monte Legnone (2,610 meters), situated in the Provincie of Leccoin Lombardy, Italy.
This beautiful hike takes place mostly on mule tracks and paths that are not very demanding compared to Monte Legnone but enjoys panoramic views of Lake Como but also of Pian di Spagna, Valchiavenna and the Alps.

The route description
We left by car from Colico reaching the town of Dervio and leaving the car in the parking lot near the town of Artesso, where the lake is located. After parking the car, you reach the summit of Mount Legnoncino (1714 m - 5623 ft) through a mule track, a former military road that climbs a slope surrounded by diverse vegetation and Fir and Larch trees.
After a slight climb with some hairpin bends you reach a flat area where you are greeted by a beautiful panoramic view of the surroundings and there are picnic tables. After leaving the area you continue passing by the ancient remains of trenches and lookout posts dating back to the First World War. After visiting them inside we reached the summit where the cross is surrounded by spectacular landscapes of Lake Como, the Valleys, Mountains and also the large and beautiful pyramid of Mount Legnone. And finally returning by the same road.
