We met a nice couple in the morning.  They are avid cyclists and come camping every year here for their anniversary!  We had a nice time talking with them and the man offered to do so much for tuning up the bikes.  He has all the tools with him.  What a nice guy and his wife was so nice too!  She had a  very unique bicycle tattoo on her leg.

The bicycle tattoo was green like her bicycle so Patrizia asked if she could take a photo.  Patrizia said maybe she was thinking to get one too but her bicycle is going to be orange! Patrizia also took a tour of their nice, big trailer.  Very comfortable!  What a cute and sweet couple!  After a nice goodbye, we started off at 1:20pm!We cycled the last part of the Avenue of Giants and then we were back on Highway 101.

What a hot day today because we are inland and don't head back to the coast until tomorrow.  We cycled for 30km and then stopped in Garberville for a roadside lunch.  We saw a few people resting before the freeway entrance.  And there was a group of 3 people and 3 dogs hitch hiking and some nice person stopped and picked them all up!  That car must have been very full!

We started back onto the highway and it was quite a diverse road, sometimes a he 6 lane freeway and sometimes a narrow 2 lane no shoulder windy road through a redwood forest!  It was as if they didn't finish parts of the highway!  We were helped sometimes by a strong tailwind but this was an up an down highway all the time.  No real flat stretches.

The highway followed a river for most of the route.Me, Patrizia, almost got the speed record today, 69.8km/hr.  Still not happy because I want 70km/hr! We started climbing in the last 20km into Leggett (elevation 1000 ft - halfway to the summit - we climb it tomorrow), the turnoff onto the Pacific Coast Highway (Highway 1)!  Leggett  ( it is a very small… small town) is about 5km off Highway 1 so we will have to backtrack a little tomorrow.

There wasn't any camping at Leggett, no cell service for us (only Verizon) and one motel/inn without Internet.  So we'll be updating the blog a day late. The Inn ( Stonegate Villa s) we are staying at is very nice and the owner has 4 cats that he's rescued. Those cats are all very sweet and a little spoiled.  They have a big room with lots of beds, the owner calls it the cat motel!  One of the cats came to visit us when we were making a tuna pasta dinner outside.

Of course we had to share the tuna and Patrizia found a great hammock to sit in with the cat and they watched the stars together!  Ellie tried very hard to take pictures but for whatever reason, she couldn't get the camera to focus.  Patrizia couldn't understand what happened so Ellie had to keep taking pictures until one worked out!  This is why Patrizia is the official photographer:-)!!  Ellie is getting better, she's taking more than 3 pictures a day!
