We started bright and early at 10:45am today but we weren't really awake!  We said goodbye to Reedsport and the Chihuahuas and off we went onto Highway 101.

The highway is really busy in this section.  Constant traffic which surprised us because it was so much quieter yesterday.  So, it was a mentally hard day. Not so many pictures because we just rode and rode and rode!

We did get to see a closer view of the sand dunes and even saw and heard the dune buggies from the highway in some spots!

We headed into North Bend/Coos Bay, a very industrial type of area it seems.  There was a bridge which we walked across (a mile long) because our maps said no cyclists were allowed on the bridge.  But we found out later, that you can ride across.  The walk across was a bit unsettling, with the winds and basically no shoulder and cars travelling pretty fast.  We wouldn't recommend riding across this bridge.

There was a bike shop right at the end of the bridge and we picked up some items to replace parts missing/broken during the trip.  Ellie got a new back light and a mirror that attaches to her glasses. Not a good fashion statement but really useful!  Patrizia got a new tire and a mirror for her next bike plus a really cool t-shirt!  The bike shop owner was really nice and helpful. He basically said to stay on the highway because the traffic heads inland about 5 miles out of town onto a different highway inland.  So we followed his advice and started off to Bandon.

We had a quick lunch break and Ellie found an interesting beer to try.  See the picture below:-)!

The ride into Bandon was a bit quieter but still busy.  We're closing in on California.  Probably 2 days away!
