Pacific Coast Bike Route: Day 11

June,13... Waldport - Reedsport I Oregan, United State I  Km, 93.43

After a nice sleep, we woke up to sunshine:-)!!!  We made a quick stop at the bike co-op but they didn't have the right tool to tighten Patrizia's mirror so she tried some scotch tape but there was a nice lady and man who had a small roll of duct tape in their car that they gave to her to hold her bike mirror in place for the trip.  It actually works very well for the ride:-)!  Then it was off to the post office to send back the rain gear! 3 kgs!  Super light now for the rest of the trip!

The road from Waldsport to Florence was amazing.  We had a great tailwind and we cycled along the ocean with fantastic views. We even saw a colony of sea lions sunning themselves on the rocks.  You could hear them barking from the highway!  There was  way less traffic than yesterday.

From Florence to Reedsport, the scenery changed.  We had more forest and trees plus sand dunes (we didn't see the dunes from the highway but we could see parts from viewpoints).  There was a lake at the side of the road full of lily pads (amazing, so nice).

The road had great shoulders and then some non-shoulders and bumpy, rough roads.  Lots of vibrations in spots so we're happy that we have strong bike forks!  We had a one big hill (long and not too steep) but the rest of the route was not difficult.

We were passed by some young guys who were going pretty fast and kept saying "on your left".  Obviously we could see them in the mirror so we stayed on the very right. Patrizia said "Wow, not very friendly at all, they're in a rush"!  It was funny because after we checked into our motel and went grocery shopping, we saw the same two guys and they looked a little tired. They were quick to say "Hey, we think we passed you on the road"!  I think they were a bit surprised that we beat them here and we were already settled down. Maybe they stopped for a beer and lunch!

At the motel, we were greeted by two chihuahuas, one male and one female. So sweet but the guy didn't like having his picture taken. He needed a little encouragement! Funny, this is the second motel with chihuahuas with short hair!  Side note, the motel owner told Ellie that they also have newborn pomeranian puppies and they will be ready to go in 10 weeks if Ellie's mom wants one!

Overall, today was a great ride with a lot of different scenery!
