Today we started off at 12:20pm from Crescent City expecting a couple of hills and then a nice flat ride.....but a couple of hills turned out to be a lot more!

At first, we climbed out of Crescent City into the first Redwood Park where we could see the beginning of some huge trees!  We found lots of trees that were bigger than both our bikes together!  The forest was full of mist, Patrizia loved it!  And we climbed for a very long time and then descended into Klamath where we found some interesting golden bears welcoming you to a bridge over the river!  This was bear country but we didn't actually see any real bears!

From Klamath, we rode through another redwood forest park along a scenic drive off highway 101!  It was amazing to ride through the trees and mist.  So much colder in the forest!  We really enjoyed the amazing scenery!  Since we were off the highway, there was way less traffic and we could really feel the quiet of the forest!

We got back onto highway 101 which still was rough in a lot of areas, holes in the middle of the road, and still really hilly so up and down a lot!  We made it to Orick and ran into our "on your left" cyclist who was now just alone because his partners had to stop due to knee problems.  I guess too much racing and not enough steady riding.  Poor guy but his friend got a ride home from his girlfriend who drove down to pick him up!

We carried on and we saw a herd of Elk!  Our friend passed us but we don't know if he actually saw the Elk!  Ellie was so excited to see the Elk that she skipped across the road to film them.  Patrizia calmly walked across to take her photos!

We ended up in a place called Trinidad and it's not really a town, more of a rest stop with a big grocery store and resort inns.  We found a very nice cottage in the middle of the forest but no wifi so photos hopefully tomorrow.  We're using the iphone to update the bog for now!
