This morning I woke up in silence at the SEVEN hostel (7 H), I didn't want to disturb the girls in the room and I had taken my luggage (the bicycle bag) and went to the bathroom to take a shower. It wasn't just me as a morning person!

Then I went downstairs to the modern café bar which offered breakfast included in the accommodation rate. Woah and what a breakfast there was really everything from American to continental breakfast, well organized and super clean.

This hostel is a renovated 19th century building and offers a choice of rooms, private en-suite rooms and stylish dorms at a great price and with a range of ages. On the top floor there was a solarium area and a beautiful panoramic terrace with breathtaking views of Capri, Naples and Vesuvius.

The first strech - After having loaded the bags on the bicycle and off to the adventure along the curvy roads returning to Sorrento since I was in Sant Agnello and then continuing on the Amalfi Coast following the jagged coast with its views that will certainly be postcard-like and this time in cycling will be completely different from going by car as I did years ago and therefore I will embark on a thrilling cycle ride! I wll passing through the famous towns of Praiano and Positano until reaching the Amalfi.

Route Description:

The route winds along scenic roads winding along the sides of the cliffs and every kilometer of effort on the bike was satisfying for the variety of landscape spectacles of breathtaking views, rich landscapes of the sea with different colors and the slopes of the Lattari Mountains, picturesque colorful houses, beaches set among the rocks, fishing villages rich in a variety of flora and fauna.

On the streets of the Coatiera Amalfi there are often parked small trucks selling local fruit and the famous Amalfitano Limoncello (is an Italian lemon liqueur) is also renowned for the production of colorful ceramics, traditional foods and very well known but not only in this part of the "talia the Caprese salad (is a classic Italian salad with juicy tomatoes, mozzarella), born on the island of Capri, a gastronomic icon of Campania.

The second strech - After leaving Sorrento I cycled along winding roads entering the hinterland for kilometers up to an altitude of 310 meters above the sea in the locality of Colli di San Pietro and between the ups and downs of the SS163 Amalfi state road I experienced unique and unforgettable, breathtaking panoramic stretches, a succession of spectacular viewpoints of coastal stretches crossing the famous cities of Positano, Arienzo, Vettica Maggiore, Praino, Conca dei Marini, Amalfi is a town in a dramatic natural setting below steep cliffs, then San Cosma, Minori , Erchie and with the continuous ups and downs of the road with the sea always as the protagonist and all the surrounding beauties, the road slowly became flat until it reached the city of Salerno.

The third strech - After passing the city of Salerno and it was the place where I should have meet Arturo but I did niot recaive a phone call from him and  the weather had changed with the protagonist being thunderstorms that came and went but when the rain poured it was very heavy that I decided to stop at the town of Magazzeno is a small beach town but a bit run down.

I would have liked to continue since it wasn't late but the weather was too unstable that I decided to stop in this location which overlooks the wonderful Gulf of Salerno south of Salerno in the Campania region.

The fourth strech - - There would have been campsites in the area but I had avoided them due to the rain and therefore I would have found a hotel for the night but I had stopped to take shelter from the rain in a grocery store near the beaches and talking to the owner I he said he had a room available in the back of the shop and so I decided to spend the night there. A place that would not have been too far if my friend Arturo would have managed to get to the city of Salerno and it would have been the point that we would have to meet again and this location was not far away.

The fifth strech - After having arranged my things in the Guest House - fully furnished, self contained, I had taken a shower and washed the clothes that I had hung on the rope near the door which also had pegs and the wind would not have taken it away. It had been an ever-changing meteorological day with a storm accompanied by lightning and heavy rain, large hail and then partially blue skies and wind.

IIn the apartment of the house there were two rooms  and there was also a washing machine. The owner did not sleep in the same house. And as he had told me after I had settled down he had brought me a good plate of pasta and a few slices of bread, what a kindness of person!

The last stop - Then, after about an hour my friend had called and was finally somewhere in Salerno, we were supposed to meet there but I had continued due to the uncertain weather and I wanted to find accommodation to avoid getting wet and so I continued pedaling but where I was it wasn't too far from the town of Salerno. I had asked him to join me and since the place where I was staying had two rooms there was room for him too. after the owner arrived he had brought him the same food that he had given me, what a kindness of man!

II ended the evening by walking the owner's dog along the seafront, a cute and somewhat shy dog who really loved his owner. After the walk I left the dog in the garden of the courtyard of the house and after that I did the evening routine with text messages, I have my friends and family who keep me company every day wanting to know about my day and after travel notes I fell asleep with enthusiasm always cycling in Campania thinking who knows what I'll see tomorrow and where we would arrive and where we would sleep. One thing was certain that my travel pace would decrease and therefore fewer kilometers per day because the weight I was carrying Arturo on his bicycle was greater than mine but that didn't matter to me traveling fewer kilometers or going slower simply because it would be a new experience of a trip where you always learn something new from another cycle tourist!
