After leaving the north part of Whistler Village we rode north on The Sea to Sky Highway alongside the stunning mountain Green Lake that runs along the edge. It is surrounded by mountains and dense forests.

Coast Mountain Circle Route Bicycle Touring I British Columbia I Canada #2

Then, heading north towards Pemberton Valley, you quickly descend and in no time you find yourself at the foot of "Suicide Hill". This is an incredibly steep and winding climb!

After that, the road becomes flatter as you arrive in the Pemberton Valley, which is surrounded by the stunning coastal mountain range and fertile farmland in a river valley and then past Mount Currie as you head east. Mount Currie is a small, mostly First Nations community near Pemberton. Many hiking trails.

From Pemberton Valley the highway becomes the Duffy Lake Road which is located along Highway 99 and which goes through Duffy Lake Provincial Park, a beautiful place, then on towards Lillooet. The route is very scenic and is a less travelled road with many curves, steep grades and steep hills, ups and downs, numerous hairpin bends and many curves, lots of untouched wilderness and wildlife. It gives very peaceful and breathtaking views. In many points of the route you can see gold rush pathways taken in the historic gold rush days. Along the way we saw a bear eating grass on the side of the road. Cell phone coverage is unreliable.

We arrved in Lillooet  is a town situated on the west shore of the Fraser immediately north of the mouth of the Seton River and is surrounded  by thebreathtaking Coastal Mountain Range. The historical town is famous from  the St’át’imc (STAH-tleum) Nation that has lived there for over 8,000 years and is the heart of Gold Rush territory where they discovered gold. Lillie was an important supply  location -  the original Mile 0 of The Caribou wagon Road leads from Lillooet to Barkerville. It’s a nice little town with lots of outdoor experiences (hiking, skiing and much more) and also there is a lake with several campgrounds. What can I say about this day pedalling? It was a balcony of natural landscapes and many varied sights but it was also a day where the legs really worked and hard for many hours and we arrived late with many beautiful moments of our day. This route was the hardest day of the tour! There is no cellular service along the route.

Day 03: Lillooet to Lytton

Place for the night:  Motel/Lytton - Riding Time: 6 Hours - Distance: 76 Km

We left  the hotel in Lillooet with a hot and dry temperature and with little wind, covering kilometres with strong heat but then the strong and opposite wind had risen, with gusts of wind of about 30 kilometres per hour. Despite the fight against the wind it was a wonderful journey!

Lytton is consistently one of the hottest places with desert landscapes also is the rafting capital of Canada. Climate-wise, it can be warmer or colder, causing fires that we have unfortunately seen. Traces of the historic Gold Rush have also been seen in this path. The Lytton is a village on the east side of the Fraser River with lots of of First Nations history.

It is a spectacular, not difficult course that runs along the Fraser River. Its ups and downs that flank the boundless desert horizons clinging to steep wooded mountains that cross the canyons, which are lost in the direction of grandiose to breathtaking natural sceneries and boundless spaces of the prairie horizons, everything is truly breathtaking!

We arrive in Lytton is a village on the east side of the Freser Rivers with lots of of First Nations history.  Great scenery  and espite the fight against the wind it was a wonderful journey!

Place for the night:  Motel/Lytton - Riding Time: 6 Hours - Distance: 76 Km

A very scenic winding drive in a dry climate in a windy day riding up and down and with dry vegetagions inclued sagebrush growing hills  along precipitous areas of the bank of the Fraser River. Unfuturtiunally lots of of trees  burned a cause of the fires from the hottest days!
