Deas Island Regional Park Hike Delta, BC Canada Added (04/2022)
Deas Island Regional Park is located in the Lower Fraser River in the delta. It is a natural park on a river island along the water surrounded by peaceful and enchanting areas.
There are many nature trails throughout the park used for outdoor activities including:river view, san dune trail, forest trees, fishing, horse riding, bridges over marshy bits, trail, bird watching for bald eagles and herons etc. There is also a pier and a rowing club that practices here. There are picnic areas, restrooms and beaches.
Theres a small island at the end of the trail called the Island Tip Trail. We were lucky the tides were low so we could explore it!
In the west entrance of the park you cross continue hiking through the park to the west you can cross over the George Massey tunnel and get a view of the B.C. Ferry maintenance facility.
There are several historic buildings in this beautiful place: Burvilla is a 100-year-old Victorian house, plus there's the Inver-home Schoolhouse was a one-room wood-framed school (typical exhibit of a first century Western Canadian who is now used for community and private events Both were moved to this park in the 1980s and kept in the park.
A great, flat hike for anyone (including dogs on the leash) on this beautiful island. There is a lot to explore!
