The Naviglio Grande cycle path I Milan to Abiategrasso I Cycle Ride Loop I Lombardy - Italy I Page #1
A graceful and decidedly easy ride from Milan to Abbiategrasso along the Naviglio. The route starts from the Darsena di Porta Ticinese in Milan taking via Alzaia Naviglio Grande and follows the waters of the river passing through Corsico, Trazzano sul Naviglio, Gaggiano to Abbiategrasso.
A nice ride graceful and decidedly easy ride from Milan to Abbiategrasso along the Naviglio.
Distance:
started from Novate Milanese through the city centre area and then I arrived where the route starts from the Darsena of Milano, near the Porta Genova railway station.
The route starts from the Darsena following the course of the Alzaia Naviglio Grande which and leads to the canal and runs alongside the canal and crosses wonderful courtyard dwellings and rail houses and the mythical neighbourhoods of many clubs (bars and restaurants); it is the area of Milanese nightlife.

Then you pass a sign of the Expo cycle path "The green blue ring", which is a system of cycle paths that connect the Naviglio and the Villoresi canal. The path pass along magnificent landscape, the natural areas of: the Ticino Park, the Groane Park and the South Milan Agricultural Park as well as various interesting towns and rural scenery.
Then, the path continues passing in front of San Cristoforo church and the two historical locations of the Canottieri: Canottieri Olana and Canottieri Milano. In this part of the route is cycling and sharing road with vehicles.
And from this point we continue on the real cycle path without sharing with the cars so that from this point on there will be no cars apart from a few crossings.
The route begins to slowly change from an urban industrial landscape to residential houses that line the banks of the Naviglio Grande making them very interesting!
It is exceeded Corsico, Trezzano sul Naviglio where the cycle path begins and is parallel to the ring road then Gaggiano, and from here the naturalistic scenario leads,In Gaggiano and I explored the square and the Church of Sant'Invenzio.
Then I crossed the bridge that leads to the other side of the canal and then passed the 18th century Villa Venini-Uboldi country villa palace built by the Vennini nobles from the name of the family who owned it between the 19th and 20th centuries. It is a typical country house, built around a courtyard with its main section facing the canal.

Finally, from Gaggiano the naturalistic scenario leads, following the belly of the river, to Abbiategrasso where the first basin of the Bereguardo Canal is located.
