#04 Highlights Figure 8 Cycle Ride of Vancouver, British Columbia Canada                                            Added (11/2020)

This figure 8 ride is very interesting from the variety of roads and panoramic views. This ride starts from west Richmond with its flat roads and then towards Vancouver via the Arthur Laing Bridge to reach the Arbutus Greenway, a path shared with pedestrians. Then the route goes northwards to Vancouver's West End (Davie Street and Denman Strreet) and on to the Lions Gate Bridge where there is a wonderful view and often you see cruise ships. After the Lion’s Gate bridge I arrive at Ambleside Park in West Vancouver, a beautiful path that runs along the sea and finally on the road that winds along the coast following Marine Drive, a beautiful road, in an enchanting scenery, it seems to be suspended from the sea and the sky and the green with the various views of the ocean where you will face all the ups and downs in the hairpin bends, certainly not boring! This is a fun bike ride, hard enough on ... "cities of angels", a sporty diversion and at the same time very fun.

You pass through Lighthouse Park which is worth visiting by parking your bicycle or carrying it by hand to explore the park surrounded by large trees, many paths for walking and the Lighthouse on the seashore then continuing to Horseshoe Bay where there are boats for several islands and finally arrive at Whitecliff park, which is located along the rugged Howe Sound at the westernmost end of West Vancouver near Horseshoe Bay. A place surrounded by scenic mountains, ocean and there are some short paths to go down to the beaches or rocks, picninc areas and is very famous for scuba diving.

Pedaling on this beautiful road, in an enchanting scenery, it will seem to be suspended between the sea and the sky with the contrast of the green of the mountains and the trees.

This promontory looks a lot like the Gargano promontory or the Malfitana coast of Italy but it is certainly not the same but very beautiful! The street is narrow with few cars and nice neighbors. Then, return via the highway (99), the Lions Gate Bridge, the West End, Burrard Bridge, Kitsilano Beach, West Point Grey Beaches with its beautiful beaches and via South West Marine drive an back to Richmond.

A fun bike ride on beautiful roads, hard enough but at the same time a lot of fun. Quite a nice turn to figure 8!

I cycled a mix combinations of roads (cycle paths, cycle lanes and road sections  with no bike lanes).

⦿ Start and Finish - Richmond, Terra Nova "Middle Arm" is located along the north shore of Richmond between the No. 2 Road Bridge and Terra Nova Rural Park.
