We woke up with the sound of pouring rain! We stayed in the motel listening to the sound of the rain and waiting for the change... We followed the suggestion of the woman where we were staying to wait for late morning. So we left at 12:40. pm. Rain less strong and it was such a strange day! We were completely dressed in waterproof clothing. During the cycling hours we had to undress in bike shorts and a light sweater because the sun had come out in style hot! After that, it was a repetition again and again all day (clothes and undressing). Ellie felt like she was going through a car wash: strong water, wind blowing and then drying! actually, we were washed from the rain, dry from the wind. A strange moments in the whole day was very varied!
We started from Hoodsport and followed the alleged shortcut through the countryside, but in reality it was through an old logging area up and down a mountain with a strong headwind for 3 hours and 30 minutes. It was supposed to be 40 km, but it turned out to be closer to 60 km. Sometimes you just have to ride on the highway :(. At the beginning and at the end of that section of road there were some nice farms.
Just outside Hoodsport, Patrizia found a large oyster beach. Too bad we didn't have an oyster knife and a lemon or we would have stopped and stayed there for a long time eating oysters! But for sure must have a permit, regulations and dates of seasons for shellfishing on publc beaches.
We ended up in Montesano, is a town in Grays Harbor County, Washington and found a Hotel connected to a service station. Not a bad idea for this area! However, the climate is extremely humid at night, but forecasts are improving. We are about 150 km from Oregon and hope to arrive at the coast in the next two days.
