We left Del Mar at around noon for a relatively short ride into San Diego the to Imoperial Beach on the Mexico border.  The weather was sunny and warm, a nice temperature to ride in.  We had to climb a long but not too steep hill through the Torrey Pines area and then we headed into the campus of the University of California San Diego.  We took an interesting route, by accident!  A little longer than you really needed to go!

We got back on track and headed into La Jolla, one of San Diego's suburbs along the ocean.  It was a little up and down until we got to the ocean.  Then we were pretty much back to flat roads!  This area had many shops and restaurants.  And even a cobblestone road but we went on a normal paved road (too bumpy for the bikes)!

We rode into the Mission Beach area, full of surfers.  It seems that biking around this area is very popular, you ride around carrying your surf board!  Probably easier than parking the car near the beach.

After choosing our motel in San Diego near the beach we continued to Imperial Beach, California, on the Mexico border and after a short visit we returned to our hotel in San Diego

After that we explored San Diego a bit and the surrounding area, returned to our motel and then organized the return trip. Later we met our friend from Switzerland at the pub. He cycled from Calgary, Canada to San Diego. He had an interesting ride with the recumbent bicycle on all types of terrain and weather. Very nice guy :-)

We made it, yeah!! :-)
