We had a great sleep at the campground!  We were in the shade o we weren't hot in the morning. And Patrizia said NO SOUND of childrens or...!   Yeah! :-)

We needed a good nights sleep to rest up for today's ride.  We figured out that Big Sur is the name of the river and tubing is very popular here.  The campground had lots of tubes and in the morning, we saw a few people on the river riding in the tubes. It looked like a lot of fun.

We left at 11am and started climbing right away.  It was hot but we still enjoyed the climb because of the great scenery.  This area is very natural.  Lots of hiking in this area!  We met an interesting group travelling to San Diego too, they were a couple touring on a tandem bike and a friend in a recumbent bike!  They looked very unique together!

We kept riding until we reached Lucia, where we found a nice, shady spot to stop for lunch.  Then it was off to start another climb but we had a quick stop at Gorda for more gatorade and vitamin water. The ocean views are great here.  We could here seals barking in the water and you could feel the ocean air.  This was turning out to be one of the best rides of the trip!

We did another big climb and descent into an area called Ragged Point.  From then on, things flattened out as we headed to San Simeon.

We had a bit of a tail wind so that was very nice and on the way, we stopped at a beach where there were lots of elephant seals!  We were very close to them, the beach had a long boardwalk to view the seals from. The elephant seals made lots of neat sounds and they used their fins to splash sand onto their huge bodies, to keep cold.  What a cool site!

Then continuing on the Hwy-1 road and we saw the famous attraction of the Hearst Castle high up on the hill with breathtaking views of Big Sur. And then we headed into San Simeon where we found a cute Motel 6.  So, we're here for tonight!
