Europe is a continent among countless destinations that preserves between history, art and nature with historical landscapes.
Imagine cycling through each country, one incredibly different from the other, cycling and meeting wonderful people on this beautiful continent!
I was lucky enough to ride this continent from all over to discover unique corners, even if I did other types of travel (hiking, kayaking, etc.). Each trip has captured wonderful moments.
However, traveling by bicycle and especially in Europe where the distances are shorter between one territory and another I found very fascinating, giving great emotions!
Why would anyone want to cycle thousands of miles across a vast continent (Europe), enduring time, pain and tiring exertion?
Europe is designed on a completely different scale than North America: the car did not dominate the construction of Europe, making it a very different place. For thousands of years, the horse as a means of transport has influenced the construction of Europe.
When you cycle in Europe, you experience Europe as our ancestors did: at the height, speed, and pace and in tranquility as if you were on horseback. When on tour, you carry panniers, just like on horseback you would carry saddlebags. People can greet you and talk to you while your ride. All the villages and towns of Europe are 30 to 50 kilometres away, allowing for easy travel from one place to another for cyclists.
Cycling in Europe, you travel as independently as possible. You have chosen your itinerary, routes and destinations. You are not like tourists in a planned group tour who will stand out and look out of place. The locals react to you on a cycle in an extremely friendly way and will be enormously interested in your cycling adventure.
Much of the pleasure of cycling in Europe is discovering yourself, and many of the monuments, castles etc. will speak for themselves without having to have a book at hand to inform you that whatever castle you are passing through is from the 10th or 12th century.
Of course if you do multiple repeated trips, you will eventually isolate particular areas and may want to return to explore in greater detail.
Despite the fatigue facing the days of riding the bicycle to discover part of its territories that surrounds it and getting lost in the beauties of the landscapes and the many people I met, they were able to give me and lose myself in its beauties and arouse great emotions enriching my heart and above all to get to know this stupendous continent with new unconstructed cultures! I am forever grateful for the hospitality, warmth, goodwill and encouragement iI have received from so many Europeans over my tours. Mille grazie!
In my travels in Europe by bicycle with so many countries in Europe, it is impossible to make a single summary, so I have given what it means to me in my travels while cycling in Europe.
Europe is one of the best destinations in the world for cycling!
