Canada - Bicycle Touring In Bristh Columbia (BC)
British Columbia is a cyclist’s dream, with landscapes that stretch from rugged coastlines to soaring mountain trails. This is a land where nature takes the spotlight, offering wild, unspoiled beauty at every turn and inviting every traveler to explore its wonders on two wheels.
Nestled along the Pacific Ocean in Western Canada, the province is full of vast spaces, pristine wilderness, and breathtaking scenery perfect for anyone who loves to immerse themselves in the outdoors.
Vancouver, the province’s vibrant heart, sits amid stunning mountains and embraces multiculturalism, including the rich heritage of the First Nations.
The city is a paradise for cyclists, with excellent infrastructure, scenic trails, and a lively cycling culture that makes every ride an adventure.
On this page, you’ll find some of my personal cycling journeys, including self-supported, minimalist bike tours—adventures that let you experience British Columbia the way it was meant to be seen: up close, wild, and free.
My Bicycle Touring Experience in British Columbia
Like much of Canada, the spaces and distances here are vast, and careful planning is necessary but I don’t plan every detail. I love the freedom of a bike trip and the thrill of adventure! I keep my choices flexible: adjusting stages, riding hours, and even where I sleep. Even the enormous distances never slow my spirit every day has a goal, a place to reach, but the journey itself is where the adventure lives.
What experiences have I had?
I’ve wandered across majestic, spectacular landscapes, often far from anyone, immersing myself in unspoiled, wild nature.
Which emotion has touched me most?
Forming close encounters with wild animals in their natural habitats feeling like a friend among them is unforgettable.
What fascinated me?
Exploring the territories and villages of First Nations peoples, where traditions, identities, and cultures have endured over time. These places are not tourist attractions—they are living worlds, rich with history and heritage, and admiring them with respect is a humbling experience.
Where did I stay?
Mostly camping, with a few nights in local motels. We shopped for groceries and often cooked in the evenings on a simple field gas stove.
Planning a trip to Canada?
This page is the perfect starting point to discover the beauty of British Columbia. Beyond my adventures, you’ll find tips for a wide range of activities, popular places, and sightseeing, especially in and around Vancouver.
