Cycle Tour I Circumnavigation the Iberian Peninsula I Spain and Portugal

This incredible journey began by taking the train from Milan Central Station to Ventimiglia, a charming town on the coast of the Ligurian Riviera, located right on the border between France and Italy.

I had booked the trip a few days in advance because you might not find space for your bicycle and you would need to purchase an additional ticket to transport your bicycle. The train journey was approximately 3 hours and 41 minutes, covering a distance of approximately 225 kilometers.

I arrived at Ventimiglia station and cycled a few kilometers to Camping Roma, located in the picturesque town of Ventimiglia, near the French border, which allowed me to reach the French Riviera the next day. I then spent the first night at this charming and family-friendly campsite!

After settling into the campsite, I took a walk to explore Ventimiglia, but not the modern part, the one near the sea, but Ventimiglia Alta, the oldest part of the city, a medieval village that dominates from above and is surrounded by ancient walls.

To reach it I had to walk on the Via Aurelia road and, after climbing a long steep road, I arrived at the village. It was a very pleasant adventure to walk through the labyrinthine streets, the narrow alleys and the ancient buildings of a medieval village is a unique experience, a dive into the past that fascinates and amazes.

While from the top the view dominated the splendid coast on one side and the mountains on the other. It was really worth it!
