Lecco, Lombardy, Italy - Walking Tour along the waterfront promenade and Christmas Village 2021-2022

Lecco is a beautiful little town situated on the southeastern branch of Lake Como, bathed by the waters of the lake and the scenic Orobian Pre-Alps in the Lombardy region of Italy. Lecco is a not a tourist hot spot, but it is one of Lake Como's largest cities, and it’s definitely a place worth visiting. It has beautiful scenery, a nice lakeside promenade, and  a wide range of outdoor activities.

The city offers many possibilities for a pleasant walk along the lake with some beautiful postcard views, and is surrounded by mountains like the famous Monte Resegone (has an elevation of 1875 m) is a mountain of the Bergamasque Prealps. It is a popular destination for an exiting outdoor experience; it can be reached by the cableway to the Piani d'Erna or for hikers there is the path that starts from the cable car square and, if you continue from the Antonio Stoppani refuge, you reach the summit. From the top you can enjoy a beautiful view of the Grigne, the Brianza lakes and the plain: to the west the view goes as far as Mont Blanc, Monte Rosa, the Matterhorn and the Piedmontese Alps.

This branch of Lake Como is a famous place where the great poet and writer Allessando Manzioni spent his childhood and described it in the classic novel “I Promessi Sposi”. In Villa Mazoni is located the Manzonian Museum to visit.

The main focus of this tour will be to take a plesant walk  a promenade around the stunning waterfront of the lake area and the centre that is developed right next to the lake.

I had a very pleasant wander around the city centre in the christmas season when it was illuminated with magical colours, with projections and Christmas lights.  The light and colour show and the videos were wonderful!
