The itinerary description

This walking tour loop start from the semi-circular in Piazza Castello, where the is a medieval fortification of the Sforsesco Castle and at the entrance there is the monument of beauty from a large dancing fountain also called by the Milanese "the wedding cake" due to its shape vaguely similar to a wedding cake and allows you to see all of the main sights and so many unusual hidden spots that are easy to see by foot and is a great way to really get to know a place and culture and include the historic streets and explore all the masterpieces and the breathtaking sigh of the Cathedral, a true architectural. I wonder and the third-largest cathedral in the world.

Then, continuing to Largo Cairoli is a famous city square in Milan located between Via Dante with the Castello Sforzesco which connects Piazza Cordusio with Via Dante, it is an important commercial street arriving at the beautiful square of Piazza Mercanti i (The Merchant's Square) and is house some of the most famous medieval buildings located a short walk from Piazza del Duomo where I will take you to see cathedral church "il Duomo di Milano", a famous tourist attraction rich in history and a symbol of the Lombard capital.

Then, walk uphill (there would also have been an elevator) on the many stone steps up to the terrace of the Duomo (which I highly recommend) and an extraordinary walk at over sixty meters high where you enjoy the magnificent view from the top of views of the mountains and the surrounding area and allows you to see its wonderful Gothic style architecture up close. After the descent I visited the inside of the Cathedral and then walked through the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, which is the oldest active shopping mall in the world.

And from here the walking tour loop will end returning the same way to Piazza Castello. This route is a better way to discover nearby attractions located in Piazza Duomo in the center of Milan.

I started by walking in Largo Cairoli is a square where the equestrian sculpture of monument to Giuseppe Garibaldi, near the Piazza Castello in the center of Milan. Here's where this tour will take me ...

Piazza Cordusio is a square then Via Dante today is a pedestrian street with many stores, cafes and restaurants is a connecting route. In the city of Milan and mainly in the Duomo area there are still historic trams dating back to the early 1900s, a wonderful opportunity to be a passenger and travel between the past and the present and I find the noise produced by the tram truly a relaxing sound. it's also a lot of fun!

The orange tram, the symbol of Milan, runs through the streets of San Francisco in California in the United States.

Piazza Castello is situated in front of the south eat entrance of Castello Sforzesco and there is a nice circular Fontana Torta degli Sposi / Fountain Cake of the Spouses. It is a popular meeting point.

Piazza Mercanti (Merchants Square) is a historic medieval square and was the central craft and commercial square and is an hidden gem is extremely close to the Duomo.

Piazza del Duomo (Duomo Square)  is an icon square in the historic, cultures, a social point center of Milan. It was  where Napoleon Bonaparte was crowned King of Italy in May 1805. It is the most visited place and largest is an icon square in the historic, cultures, a social point.

Wow completely different perspective of the Duomo and a breathtaking view of Piazza Duomo and over this area of Milan.

There are two ways to go up to the rooftop terrace one via lift and the other by climbing up foot, I preferred via foot. To visit the museum and the roof terrace of the Duomo, with its magnificent view and its stunning facade with its pinnacles and spires , you must purchase separate tickets. I recommend visiting both the Cathedral and the Duomo rooftop -  It's truly extraordinary!
