This extraordinary hiking trail, one of the most spectacular wild places in the world of Valmalenco, leads to the Fellaria Glacier in Lanzada, Sondrio.
The excursion starts precisely from the artificial basins of Alpe Gera and Campo Moro located in Valmalenco, in the Municipality of Lanzada, and from this point many hiking trails begin.
The trail is an incredible hike across the lake (Gera lake) which is an artificial lake created by a dam, surrounded by mountain views via side paths that wind through the remote wilderness.
Along the way you can admire waterfalls, bridges, glimpses of imposing mountains, high altitude trails with dry vegetation, mountain vegetation, some wild animals, animals grazing freely on mountain meadows, huts and you will see the famous and wonderful Fellieria Glacier with the color of the meltwater of the glacier where it begins to take on the famous turquoise blue or green color. What a great hike is one of the most beautiful treks to do in Lombardy!

Then, We hike along the eastern route of Lake Alpe Gera where there are short tunnels and passages in the rocks. Passing from Alpe Val Poschiavina and Ghembre

We cross the wooden bridge where the stream runs, then the view of the waterfall and the lake at the base of the glacier.

Then, we go up the trail that leads to the top and we followed the well-signposted path and climb up to the Roberto Bignami Refuge (2,385 m) - Alta Val Malenco which is located at the base of the Fellaria's Alps. Time taken: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
After the refuge we meet a sign "grazing animals / dogs on a leash" and The trail takes in the wonderful valley floor surrounded by imposing peaks and through splendid flowering meadows of alpine flowers and pastures of free animals: cows, goats and horses. And we saw a woman milking a goat!
Then, we go up the trail that leads to the top and we we arrived at Alpe Felleria/the Fellaria's Alps. After that you continue and enter the Luigi Marson glaciological trails and there are three trails (A, B and C) to choose and reach the two sides of the glacier, the western or eastern one, obviously the lengths of the path are different. All trails are connected to each other.
We had chosen the "C" trail and reached Ghiacciao Fellaria. and we hike back in the same way. Time taken: Approximately 1 hour 30 minutes.
