Galiano Island is one of the Gulf Islands off BC's South Coast in Canada. It is accessible by BC Ferries from Swartz Bay on Vancouver Island or Tsawwassen on the Mainland. It is a long and narrow island (tip and top).

Galiano is named after the eighteenth century Spanish explorer Dionisio Alcalá Galiano, who explored the west-coast of Canada in 1792.

It is a place rich in nature and culture and history. The Hwlitsum First Nation live here. Galiano has a lot to offer in terms of outdoor activities, recreation and local art galleries.

In the middle of the majestic Pacific ocean, nature has generated a small and wonderful paradise that captivates the beauty of its rocky and jagged coasts, small bays, brightness of the sea, with many beaches and wonderful sandstone shelves, sculpted by the wind and sea.

Fauna include falcons, deers, raccoons, bald eagles, orcas, otters, sea lions, star fish and much more.

Flora include lavender, visible wild magenta sweet peas growing wild around the roadsides, red cedar trees, douglas trees and wonderful Arbutus Trees which are a native species to British Columbia.

The main routes are along low-traffic hilly roads and is a long, narrow island, 27.5 km (17.1 mi) from tip and top.
