Bicycle Tour Around Como Lake in Lombardy, Italy  Part #1 Milano - Como - Brienno

My adventure began leaving the metropolis of the city of Milan on a sunny but cold day. There are many alternatives to get to Como also on cycle paths but since I had already covered many of them for other tours, I had decided to take the direct route on the Comasina state road passing through: Paderno Dugnano, Cesano Maderno, Seveso, Lentate sul Seveso, Fino Mornasco and Como.

This road is generally very busy and especially at peak times but the day I left was a public holiday and I left early in the morning without finding any problems and it was cold but on the other hand it was December!

I arrived at Villa Saporiti also known as La Rotonda located on the lakeside in Como. The neoclassical villa was built between 1790 and 1793 for the Marquise Eleonora Villani and was designed by the Austrian architect Leopoldo Pollack. It hosted princes and sovereigns including Napoleon I. It is currently the seat of the Provincial Administration. Next I took the Via Regina which runs along the west shore of the lake, the first village on the way is the famous tourist resort of Cernobbio (the first village located just outside Como).  Cernobbio is a charming village that offers many things to visit and many Renaissance-era villas scattered around to visit on foot. I passed by Villa Erba which was built between 1898 and 1901 and Villa D'Este, the most renowned and today one of the world's most celebrated hotels immersed in a 10-hectare park overlooking the marvellous shores of Lake Como

Subsequently the same street becomes the Via Vecchia Regina, a narrow winding road passing through beautiful breathtaking landscapes passing by the villages of Moltrssio, Carate Urio, Laglio and you pass many visible villas, including Villa Oleandra which was built in the 18th century and which is located in Laglio and is now owned by famous American actor and director George Clooney and Brienno is a charming little village of 331 inhabitants.

Each village that I have crossed has different beauties characterised by narrow alleys between one house and another, the wonderful and surprising panoramic points to enjoy the view of the needle or those that overlook the lake directly. These beautiful villages offer postcard images and a fairytale atmosphere!
