Val Codera the jewel of the Rhaetian Alps. It is a valley accessible only on foot in the province of Sondrio, 100 kilometers from Milan, in the municipality of Novate Mezzola. This beautiful valley is at the side of the Val Chiavenna, close to Lake Como and Switzerland.


it was a beautiful hike in the Codera Valley to reach the small Codera and it is the only inhabited village in the Alps that is not accessible to cars or from the cable cars. Your own fairytale corner where nestled between nature and fairytale landscapes!


The route: Val Codera and Tracciolino Hiking trail starting from Novate Mezzola, passing through Codera, and then following the Tracciolino path towards San Giorgio Cola and back to Novate Mezzola.

The adventure of this hike began  from Novate Mezzola (319 m), Sondrio, in Valtellina, we left the car at the Mezzopiano dirt car park (340 m) and in a few minutes you will arrive at the start of the path.

The excursion begins by taking the side of the mule track, a panoramic path in the woods which winds towards Codera with many sections of challenging and steep granite steps, renowned for its challenges requiring physical strength and endurance! Great Cardio Workout!

The route continues on the mule track, continuing to climb with many hairpin bends. Once at a certain height, the vegetation of trees etc ends, and the panoramic balconies of the Lake Mezzola open up and you enter the Valchiavenna, arriving at the small town Avedee.
