Refuge Ventina Hiking in Valmalenco Sondrio, Lombardy Italy
This amazing excursion leads to the Ventina Refuge which is located in the mountains of the Rhaetian Alps, which are part of a short stretch of Valmalenco in the province of Sondrio.
The Refuge is also a base point for accessing other excursions to the Monte Disgrazia group. Or it can simply be a small hike to taste the local products of the Valtellina in the refuge.
In the summer I made this excursion with friends and we backpack some gear for the overnight stay at the refuge. The refuge is only open during the summer period and offers various accommodation facilities and services, which include refreshment and overnight accommodation.
Our adventure stated from il paesino montano of Chiareggio (1600m) , a part of the municipality of Chiesa in Valmalenco in Valtellina. After having parked the car, we started our hike towards the beginning of the path that climbs up to the first Gerli-Porro Refuge (1965 m) and then the Ventina Refuge (1976m). The route is easy to get there in an hour.
After leaving our backpacks in the Refuge we explored the area and finally had dinner. The next day we went to the base of the glaciological path of the Ventina (2225 m) and we returned to the same ascent route.
