The continent holds wonderful landscapes, historical architecture, and wonderful people. Every country is incredibly different than the next.

Why would anyone want to ride a bicycle thousands oh kilometres across a vast continent (Europe), enduring weather, pain and strenuous effort? Europe is designated on a whole different scale than North America: the car has not dominated the construction of Europe, wish makes it very different place. For thousands of years, the horse as a means of transportation has influenced the construction of Europe. When you ride a bicycle in Europe, you experience Europe as did our ancestors: at the height, speed, rhythm and peace as if you were riding a horse. When touring, you carry panniers, just like riding a horse, you would carry saddle bags. All villages and towns in Europe are space about 30 to 50 Kilometers apart, allowing easy travel from place to place for cyclists.

By cycling Europe, you are traveling in the most independent means possible. You chose you itinerary, routes and destinations. Tourists ( planned group) will stand out and seems out of place. Local people will be extremely friendly and be enormously interested in your adventure.

A big part of the pleasure of cycling touring in Europe is self discovery, and many of the monuments, castles etc. will speak for themselves without necessary having a book at you fingerer trip to inform you whatever a castle you are passing is 10th or 12th century. Of course if you make several repeat trips, you will eventually isolate particular areas and you may wish to regress yourself in every detail.
