Hope Lookout Hiking Trail (Hope Grind), Hope, British Columbia, Canada

The Hope Lookout Trail, also known as the Hope Grind, is a short but steep and challenging scenic route on Mount Hope. The trail winds through lush forest, offering shade during the climb and a great cardio workout for hikers of all levels.

I even hiked this trail with my dog, as the Hope Lookout Trail is pet-friendly and allows animals on the route. It’s a perfect option for those who want to enjoy the outdoors with their furry friends while getting a solid workout and enjoying panoramic views.

Once at the summit, perched on a rocky slope, scenic balconies open up with panoramic views of the town of Hope, Lake Kawkawa, and the Coquihalla and Fraser Rivers. It’s a spectacular hike and a great way to experience the beauty of the area.

Hope itself is a charming town at the confluence of the Coquihalla and Fraser Rivers, at the eastern edge of the Fraser Valley, surrounded by mountains. The town features carved wooden statues and art installations by local artists, including the famous Rambo Statue by chainsaw artist Ryan Villeirs, honoring the town where “Rambo” was filmed.

Nearby, you can visit the historic Othello Tunnels, a series of old railway tunnels and bridges spanning the canyon and wild Coquihalla River. Unfortunately, the tunnels are currently closed indefinitely due to storm damage, but the surrounding area remains scenic and worth exploring.
